12 inch metal bowl
generic usb adapter
zyadas chipset type - best not to  use the linksys or dlink usb wireless adapters
antenna seems to work best at 7 inches off of bowl.
Remember antennaes are parabolas so there is a calculaion for best position based on size of bowl and frequency of signal
You can easily go 15 feet with usb extensions . If was really a long reach you could boost it with Powered hubs
The only problem is that one of the 2 measurements are too low for the windows wireless utility to catch.
Best to use the wireless utility supplied with the wireless adapter.
